More about Nordgro

Nordgro Greenhouses

Nordgro builds greenhouses for northern conditions, with clean framing and materials chosen for cold, wet winters rather than for mild ones. The range leans towards simple shapes and matt finishes instead of ornamental detail, which lets the structure sit quietly in a garden rather than dominating it.

The design approach is recognisably Nordic: straight lines, restrained proportions and nothing added that does not do a job. In practice that means fewer parts to fail and a frame that looks the same in ten years as it does on the first day.

Materials

Aluminium framing is the basis of the range. It will not rot or rust, needs no annual treatment, and is light enough that one person can handle the sections during assembly. Where finishes are applied they are powder coated rather than painted, so a scratch is cosmetic rather than the start of corrosion.

Glazing options follow the usual pattern. Twin wall polycarbonate insulates better and will not shatter; glass transmits more light, which matters most through a short northern winter.

Assembly

Nordgro greenhouses arrive as kits with illustrated instructions and a fixed assembly sequence. Two people and a level base make the job straightforward. One person on uneven ground makes it considerably harder, and a frame built out of square will not glaze cleanly.

Prepare the base before delivery rather than after, and fit an anchor kit during assembly rather than once the glazing is in.

Sizes

The range spans compact models suited to a small garden through to larger houses with room for staging on both sides. The size guide sets out what each floor area actually allows in terms of internal layout, which is more useful than comparing frame dimensions.

Growers more often regret buying too small than too large. The difference in cost between adjacent sizes is usually less than the cost of replacing a frame two seasons later.

Fitting Out

Plan the interior before assembly. Staging along one side with a bed opposite is the standard arrangement, and setting it out first is easier than adapting around it afterwards.

For winter use in a northern climate, bubble sheet from the protection range cuts heat loss without blocking the light that dormant stock still needs.
