Growing in a Narrow Space
A narrow greenhouse has a reduced depth, typically between half a metre and a metre and a half, while keeping standard length and full standing height. That proportion is what lets it fit a side passage, a courtyard, or the strip between a path and a boundary where nothing else will go.
The ground it uses is usually ground that was doing nothing. Side returns in particular tend to be dead space: too narrow to plant properly, too awkward to furnish, and often the only unshaded run left in a small garden.
Depth Changes How You Work
Everything is reached from one side, so the useful measurement is arm's length rather than floor area. Anything more than about sixty centimetres from the front will be awkward, which shapes the whole layout.

Light and Shade
A narrow greenhouse is often sited between two walls or against a fence, and that setting can take more light than expected. Check what shades the run through the day rather than at the moment you measure, since a passage that is bright at noon may be dark by three.
Where light is limited, propagation and shade tolerant crops work better than fruiting plants. Supplementary lighting extends what is possible if there is power nearby.
Wind in a Passage
Narrow spaces between buildings funnel wind rather than shelter from it, and the effect can be stronger than in the open garden. A slim frame with a large glazed face needs anchoring properly regardless of how enclosed the site looks.
An anchor kit matched to the surface handles this. On paving, bolts through the base frame are the most secure option.
