KGT Greenhouses
KGT builds greenhouses in Germany using aluminium framing with heavier profiles than entry level frames use. The extra section thickness is the defining feature: it makes the structure stiffer, allows longer spans between glazing bars, and carries the weight of safety glass without flexing.
The range covers compact models through to large houses, and most can be sited freestanding or against a wall. Detailing is restrained rather than ornamental, which lets the same frame suit a formal garden and a modern one.
Glazing Options
KGT models are offered with UV protected polycarbonate or with safety glass, and the choice changes how the house behaves.
- Twin wall polycarbonate insulates better and diffuses light, so plants close to the panel are less likely to scorch. It will not shatter.
- Safety glass transmits more light, which matters most in midwinter, and breaks into blunt fragments rather than shards.
Weight differs considerably between the two, and the heavier frame sections are part of why safety glass is a practical option here where it would not be on a lighter frame.
Ventilation as Standard
Many models include automatic roof ventilation, which is worth having rather than adding. A wax cylinder opens the vent as the house warms and closes it as the air cools, with no power and no attention required.
Where a model does not include it, an automatic vent opener can usually be retrofitted to a standard roof vent.
Assembly and Base
KGT greenhouses arrive as kits with instructions. Assembly is a sequence of framing, then glazing, then fitting any accessories, and it is a two person job rather than a one person one, mostly because of the weight of the glazed panels.
The base has to be right first. Level, drained and square, with an anchor kit fitted during assembly rather than afterwards. A heavier frame is less forgiving of a base that is out of true, not more.
Who It Suits
This range suits growers planning a structure to keep for decades rather than seasons. The frame is the part you cannot easily upgrade later, and paying for section thickness at the outset is what makes the difference on an exposed site.
